Part 1: Introduction

The Mercedes-Benz M-Class is the company's popular lineup of SUVs and crossovers. There are four SUV models in the M-Class namely the ML350 SUV, the ML350 BlueTEC SUV, the ML550 SUV and the ML63 AMG. The 2012 M-Class ML350 BlueTEC is one of the most expensive vehicles in this model. It costs about $50,490 to get the base model of the ML350 BlueTEC; more expensive than most of the SUVs in the market. The engine of the 2012 ML350 BlueTEC received good reviews for its performance and handling power.

The Mercedes-Benz 2012 M-Class ML350 BlueTEC runs with a maximum of 240hp with a massive torque of up to 455lb-ft. This SUV's engine is considered an innovation on its own. The 2012 ML350 BlueTEC uses the BlueTEC clean diesel technology that maximizes the power of diesel gasoline without emitting too much noise, odor and unclean particles. That makes the 2012 ML350 BlueTEC energy-efficient, environment-friendly and cost-effective. This technology has been used by Mercedes-Benz for quite some time now and it has been proven to work based on many reviews about it.

A review of the 2012 ML350 BlueTEC comparing it to the 2012 Lexus RX Hybrid showed that the ML350 still has a long way to go before being ranked number one in the SUV category. The 2012 Lexus RX Hybrid surpassed the M-Class ML350 BlueTEC in terms of performance, exterior and interior features, and reliability. The only edge the Mercedes-Benz 2012 M-Class ML350 BlueTEC has over the competition is its safety features.

The fuel economy of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML350 BlueTEC is not as impressive as the Hybrid version of the Lexus RX. That is to be expected though since a hybrid is a class on its own. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML350 BlueTEC is reviewed to run about 17mpg in the city and 22mpg on the highway. City driving is the preferred condition of the Lexus RX Hybrid, running 32mpg and a still impressive 28mpg on the highway. Value-wise, the Hybrid is actually about $3,000 cheaper than the ML350. After our reviews, we do feel that the price of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML350 BlueTEC is too expensive. You can get many more features and better performance from a lot of other SUVs on the market for the price you would pay for to buy the ML350 BlueTEC. Some people won't care about the price of the 2012 ML350 BlueTEC though. Brand recognition is still a big deal for a lot of consumers and the Mercedes-Benz is an established name that is hard to beat.

Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML350 BlueTEC SUV Pros and Cons

Pros The 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML350 BlueTEC has a quiet diesel engine that runs smoothly in most driving conditions.

Pros The engine is quite powerful based on our reviews. It can compete well with other mid-sized SUVs that are currently on sale.

Pros There are many rave reviews about the 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML350 BlueTEC's classy interior. The materials used for the upholstery and trimmings are high-quality and sleek.

Pros The exterior styling of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML350 BlueTEC has also been improved. The previous models of the ML350 are not as polished and good-looking as this current design.

Pros The safety features available in the 2012 M-Class ML350 BlueTEC from Mercedes Benz are favored in reviews.

Cons Although the 2012 M-Class ML350 BlueTEC from Mercedes Benz has a good enough engine, we feel based on our reviews that the M-class ML350 would benefit from higher specification engines like the V8.

Cons There is no option to add an additional third row in the 2012 M-Class ML350 BlueTEC from Mercedes Benz. It would have been better if there was more space to fit passengers.

Cons The price of this model is more expensive compared to other brands with similar specifications. The current price of this SUV is now $48,990, which makes it even more expensive than 2012 Lexus RX Hybrid - an SUV considered by many reviewers to be the top contender in this category.
