Expert Review for Hyundai Elantra Touring SUV Crossover

Named like the other Hyundai 4-door sedan, the 2012 Hyundai Elantra Touring SUV Crossover should not be mistaken with the other stylish Hyundai Elantra. The only similarity between the two, aside from the name, is the car manufacturer. Obviously, both are designed by the Korean car manufacturing giant that continues to deliver good quality, cheaper alternatives to the high-end cars we know today.

Part 1: Introduction

Named like the other Hyundai 4-door sedan, the 2012 Hyundai Elantra Touring SUV Crossover should not be mistaken with the other stylish Hyundai Elantra. The only similarity between the two, aside from the name, is the car manufacturer. Obviously, both are designed by the Korean car manufacturing giant that continues to deliver good quality, cheaper alternatives to the high-end cars we know today.

Looking at the latest 2012 Hyundai Elantra Touring SUV Crossover, it is a 4-door hatchback SUV that closely resembles the Mazda 3 and Ford Focus. However, performance-wise, the Touring SUV Crossover falls far behind the others in engine power and efficiency. Though it is a cheap alternative for an SUV, consumers won't be pleased with the engine performance of Hyundai Touring Crossover in the long run.

The Hyundai Elantra Touring SUV Crossover is powered by a 2.0 Li 4 cylinder engine that has an output power of 138 horsepower. It may sound like the Elantra SUV has an impressive engine power, but in reality that number is not close to how it actually performs. Aside from the standard engine power, the base model is also equipped with standard features like 15" steel wheels, full power windows and power locking doors, air conditioning, and a CD player and USB/iPod interface. The exterior design is plain as well. If you compare the Hyundai Elantra Touring to other hatchback models, the design does not give it any distinct cutting-edge, modern look. There is really nothing to get excited about with the design. The safety features and other vehicle features are standard as well, which you can get from better car options.

However, despite the average look and performance, what sets the Hyundai Elantra Touring SUV Crossover apart is the huge cargo and passenger space. Surprisingly for a small hatchback like the Elantra Touring, there is no question that passengers can sit comfortably in the enormous cabin, which even has a big compartment to fit more things. Another feature common to most Hyundai cars is the long warranty and the attractive low price.

Overall, if you are looking for a cheap alternative for a hatchback car, the Hyundai Elantra Touring SUV Crossover is a good choice. However, if you are looking for a value for your money without compromising engine performance and style, there are other options available on the market. In the long run, spending extra will lead to a more practical choice.

Hyundai Elantra Touring SUV Crossover Pros and Cons

Pros The 2012 Hyundai Elantra Touring SUV Crossover surprises everyone with an impressively huge cabin space that can seat adult passengers comfortably, while offering ample cargo space in the back.

Pros The tuned suspension of the Elantra Touring makes the SUV easy to handle and lightly controlled when steering.

Pros The inside cabin is well designed for an almost noiseless ride. When combined with the pleasantly tuned suspension, the Hyundai Elantra Touring proves to be a smooth and quiet ride: perfect for a long drive.

Pros The Hyundai Elantra Touring has controls orderly placed on the dashboard, so there is no guessing which button should be used.

Pros Safety features like traction control and stability control and antilock brakes are bargain offers for the base model of the Hyundai Elantra Touring.

Pros Just like other Hyundai models, the Elantra Touring has an impressive long warranty and cheap base price.

Cons The Hyundai Elantra Touring may be a cheap alternative to other available SUVs, but the entire vehicle performance falls behind average when compared to similar options. The engine rating may sound good at 138 horsepower, but is not that high in actuality.

Cons The engine acceleration may be good at first but is still snappy, especially with the manual transmission.

Cons The Hyundai Elantra Touring used cheap materials for the interior, and the exterior design lacks the sophisticated look.
