Part 1: Introduction

Wonderful new technology is not only redefining the modern car, but also improving the environment. Hyrbid technology has made great progress in the past decade as the technology simultaneously improves fuel mileage and vastly lowers emissions. At first, these modern technological advancements were only accessible on a couple or small cars. However, today the same innovations are now available on midsize sedans and compact SUVs. The Yukon Hybrid model is one of the first vehicles in its segment to combine the use of this technology. The synergy of new technology has made substantial growth in fuel effectiveness and emissions minimization on the new Yukon Hybrid.

The 2012 GMC Yukon Hybrid takes advantage of both the gasoline engine and an electricpower train to achieve a collective EPA fuel rating ofapproximation twenty-one mpg in combined city and highway driving. The four-wheel drive version boasts an impressive 20 mpg thanks to its significantly decreased inner-city fuel consumption. The GMC Yukon's hybrid system makes use of a new transmission prototype that was designed together with BMW and Chrysler. Since the hybrid system increases the weight, GMC took measures to minimize overall weight by incorporating thinner front seats and lightweight body panels. The aerodynamic efficiency is improved at highway speeds by the low-slung front air dam.

In reality, the Yukon Hybrid is very similar to a normal Yukon, with a seating capacity of 8 passengers and offers a load space of nearly 109 cubic feet. It's also able to tow up to 6,200 pounds and comes loaded with a high quality sound system, navigation system, and leather seating. Extra options include a sunroof and a rear-seat DVD system. It offers agile and smooth handling, a quiet freeway ride, and overwhelming acceleration due to the hybrid power train.
