Part 1: Introduction

The 2012 Yukon Denali Hybrid is one of the sleekest looking machines to come from GMC this year, and it features plenty of technical merits as well. The newest addition to the Denali line is available in both two wheel and four wheel drive, has an eight passenger seating capacity, and has four doors, but these are only the very basic top-of-the-line features that make up the new Denali. The 332 horsepower 6.0 liter, V8 engine provides the Denali owner with the power that they would expect from a full-size SUV, but with better gas mileage, which is typical of such a vehicle. The features that are really going to get the GMC lovers juices flowing are those that can be found on the inside of the new Denali, that is, depending on what options buyers choose.

As with any vehicle those options come with a price tag, and in this case it can end up being a considerably high one, up to more than $60,000 in fact. The Yukon Denali Hybrid is no ordinary SUV, starting with what's under the hood. And just as important as what's under the hood is the equipment that the vehicle comes equipped with. With the four-wheel drive option, and the standard StabiliTrak technology, and the Magnetic Ride Control Suspension Package, Denali owners can expect a smooth, well controlled ride in any condition. And with multiple airbags and the rearview camera, drivers can expect safety as well. Although the 2011 Denali did come equipped with the Magnetic Ride Control Suspension Package and StabiliTrak technology as well, these are still fairly new features, and ones that are unique to GMC vehicles.

Other equipment that comes standard with the 2012 Yukon Denali Hybrid includes a Bose Centerpoint surround sound, premium acoustical insulation package, rear seat audio entertainment system, and Bluetooth technology capability. In addition all Denali owners can enjoy heated seating, leather interior, power tilt steering and adjustable pedals, and a remote starting system. Essentially the new Denali hybrid has all of the best features that last year's model had, but with a few extras added to the mix. Of those new features, some of the coolest include the household style power outlet, Tri-zone automatic climate control, and the ultrasonic rear parking assistant. But the new Denali Hybrid is not all about function, but about beauty and style as well. And where better to show off style than in the interior of the vehicle.

GMC Yukon Denali Hybrid SUV Pros and Cons

Pros Fuel-efficient choice, though it comes at a steep price.

Pros Food fuel economy for an SUV.

Pros Interior is well-made and it has the highest seating capacity in its class, along with its corporate twin, the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid.

Pros Equipped with a full set of technological features

Cons The Hybrid version of the Yukon costs more than $12,000 than the base model, meaning that it could take twenty years of fuel economy to make up the difference.

Cons For such a big vehicle, the Yukon Hybrid is surprisingly underpowered, and is especially weak when it comes to towing any kind of load.

Cons Reviewers complain that its third row cannot be folded down flat, to allow easy access to the cargo area.
